Who we are
Bambili Baptist Church (“BBC”, “we”, “us”) is a local congregation in Bambili, Tubah Sub-division, North West Region, Cameroon, and a member of the Cameroon Baptist Convention. We run this website and the BBC Connect mobile app to help our church family stay connected, and we are responsible for the personal information described here.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account and profile details — your name, email address, phone number, gender, date of birth, home address or quarter, and, where relevant, your school or campus.
- Church involvement — the organ, ministries and department you belong to, and your role in the church.
- Profile photo — if you choose to upload one.
- Prayer requests and anything else you choose to share in the app.
Information created as you take part
- Attendance — when you check in to a service or event by scanning its QR code.
- Spiritual growth activity — devotional and reading-plan progress, streaks, and course or lesson progress.
- Contributions — the church office keeps records of tithes, offerings and other gifts made by members.
Information from your device
- Notification token — so we can send you announcements and reminders.
- Basic device and app details — such as the app version and operating system, used to keep the app working and offer updates.
App permissions
The BBC Connect app only asks for a permission when you use the feature that needs it:
- Camera — to scan event check-in codes.
- Photos — to choose a profile picture, or to save images such as birthday cards.
- Microphone and speech recognition — to check your recitation of a lesson’s memory verse. Audio is used only for that check and is not stored by us.
- Notifications — to send you church announcements and reminders.
You can turn any of these off at any time in your device settings.
How we use your information
- To create and manage your member account and approve new sign-ups.
- To provide sermons, devotionals, reading plans, courses, hymns and events in the app.
- To record attendance and help church leaders care for and follow up with members.
- To send announcements, reminders and birthday greetings.
- To keep accurate church records, including contributions.
- To keep our services secure and fix problems.
Church leaders may use automated tools to help summarise a member’s participation (for example attendance and growth activity) for pastoral care. These summaries never include giving amounts.
Who can see your information
Your details are visible only to authorised church administrators and leaders who need them for their role. Other members may see limited information, such as your name and photo, where a feature calls for it — for example on a prayer request you choose to share.
We never sell your personal information or share it with advertisers. We use a small number of trusted service providers to run our services, including Google Firebase (hosting, sign-in, database, storage and notifications) and Google’s AI services for content and pastoral summaries. They process data on our behalf and only as we instruct. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How we protect it
Data is encrypted in transit and stored with Google’s cloud services. Access to the church dashboard is limited to administrators, protected by two-factor authentication, automatic session timeouts and an audit log of sensitive actions.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as you are part of the church community or have an account with us. When you delete your account, we remove your profile and the personal data linked to it. Records of contributions are kept for the church’s accounts, no longer linked to your profile.
Your choices and rights
- View and update most of your profile directly in the app.
- Ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete your account and personal information at any time on our account deletion page, or ask the church office to do it for you.
- Turn off notifications or app permissions at any time.
Children
Our services are intended for members of our church community. Children under 13 should use BBC Connect only with the involvement of a parent or guardian, who may contact us to review or remove their child’s information.

Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and we will let members know in the app about any significant changes.
